Starting your divorce
To start, simply pay for the divorce
package you need.
Questionnaires will then be emailed to you
with complete instructions.
You then email them back to us and we
prepare all the paperwork for
you and then email the papers to you.

How to Pay
Once you pick your package, you then
will be taken to PayPal for
payment. While PayPal would like you to
sign up with them, you do
not need a PayPal account. At the bottom
of the page you will find a
link and you have the option to just pay
with a credit or debit card
without signing up with them.

What is needed to start?
You need to make sure either you or
your spouse is living in
Nevada
and has lived here for 6 weeks and that
you intend to remain
here as a Nevada resident. You will need
to make sure you have
someone that will sign papers saying that
you or your spouse has lived
here for at least 6 weeks. You and your
spouse need to have
decided on what issues will need to be
included in the divorce - such
as whether you have assets or debts that
need to be divided or sold
or whether there are none that need to be
addressed. We will
provide complete instructions, but if you
two have not discussed the
divorce ahead of time then you run the
risk that the other will not
agree. So just make sure you truly have
an uncontested divorce that
both of you agree to.

Divorce Package
We provide questionnaires to you that
you fill out and email back
to us. We then prepare all paperwork for
you and email them back
to you. You will also receive complete
instructions on how to fill out
the questions as well as file your
divorce. We will also file your
papers for you in the Reno court for you
if you desire for a slight extra
fee. return
Time
We usually get your divorce papers to
you within 2 business days
of you emailing your questionnaires back
to us. Your completed
papers will be emailed back to you and you
will file them. Once you
file
your papers, it usually takes about 2
weeks for you to be
divorced. Sometimes it takes longer and
sometimes it is shorter. It is
all based on how busy the judge is and
when they review and sign
your papers. return
Court
No court appearance is generally
required. There is always a
possibility a judge could schedule a
hearing if they are concerned
about what is contained in the papers, but
this would be an extremely
rare circumstance.
return
Residency in Nevada
Either you or your spouse needs to
have lived in Nevada for 6
weeks. Both of you do not need to live
here. return
Wife changing her name
Our papers give the wife the option
to change her name back to a
former name. So she has the option of
keeping her married name or
changing it back.
return
Signing the papers
Both of you will need to sign the
papers.
return
What if you can't find your spouse
We can also prepare divorce papers
for you if you can't find your
spouse. However this is a more expensive
process and it will also
take longer. The Court will not simply
accept a representation that
you cannot find your spouse. You will
have to give detailed
information on everything you have done to
locate them including
possibly using a private investigator.
The Court will not want to issue
a divorce against someone unless they are
convinced your spouse
can't be found, just like you would not
want a court issuing a divorce
against you and deciding divorce issues if
your spouse filed without
notifying you. However there are times
when your spouse has simply
vanished and this will be necessary. We
will help in the process of
finding an investigator and let you know
what information the court
will look for in this process.
return
Court Filing Fees
Court filing fees are not included in
the price since they vary. The
filing fees vary in Nevada depending on
which Court you file in, but in
general they are approximately $280 to
$290. You will pay the court
filing fee directly to the court when you
file your divorce papers.
return
Children
If you have children under the age of
18 (or 19 and still in high
school) that you are both responsible for
then you will need the
package that addresses children. You will
also need this package if
you adopted a child of your spouse.
However, if a child is not yours
and is not adopted, then you do not need
the child divorce package.
You will also need this package if neither
one of you have the children
due to someone else having either
guardianship or temporary custody.
The children package includes a worksheet
to help with child support
calculations and custody arrangements.

What is COPE and is it required?
Las Vegas has a required class if you
have minor children. This is
commonly referred to as a COPE class. You
will only need to take
this class if you live in Las Vegas and
both parents will be required to
take it. You may start your divorce
papers while you are in the
process of taking the class if you like.

Guarantee
We do not guarantee that you will
obtain a divorce since once in a
while someone's circumstances do not allow
a divorce for reasons
such as not being a Nevada resident or the
court not agreeing with an
unusually small child support amount. But
we do guarantee that your
papers will be accepted by the court and
conform to your particular
court's local rules and requirements and
we will remedy any papers in
the rare instance the court wants them
done differently. The guarantee
is limited to changing papers and does not
include any filing fee
reimbursement. We have not had any papers
rejected due to not
being acceptable to date.
return
Annulment
We can also offer annulment
services. But this too is more
expensive and can potentially require a
court appearance. Simply
having a falling out with your spouse is
not enough for an annulment
even if they have had or are having an
affair. Nevada is a no fault
divorce state and does not consider why
individuals want a divorce.
It is common for there to be a reason why
someone wants a divorce,
but this usually is not enough for an
annulment to be granted. An
annulment requires a reason that goes to
the heart of the marriage
contract, such as fraud when one person
claims they want children
when they know they can't have children or
that they belong to your
religion when they are atheist. A court
will not simply grant an
annulment simply because someone wants
one. You can read about
Nevada's annulment laws at this link.
